Working throught the install instructions i have arrived at the gRUB stage.
when i do root(hd1,1) i get
Filesystem type unknown, partition type 0x83,
Im using RieserFS,
THen when i go, setup (hd0,0)
i get Error 17, Cannot mount selected partiton
If i go grub-install --recheck /dev/hda i get
Probing.. may take a whilre
df: Warning: cannot read table of mounted file systems: no such file or dir
:not found or not a block device,
so now i dont want to reboot till its fixed! |

Try to use ext2/ext3 instead of ReiserFS for your boot partition. I got a similar problem before with ReiserFS and using ex2 fixed that. |

I happened to encounter the same problem (grub vs. reiserfs)... but it seems as if there is a workaround available somewhere in the web... too bad that I couldnt find it... but instead of waisting more of my time by trying to find that patch I just installed lilo... but if anyone knows that patch I'd be interested too.. |

you have to manually unmask the latest version of grub and then it will nicely recognize the reiserfs |
