|
|
Just tried installing gentoo on two Dell Optiplex gx150s. Both computers gave me the same error after booting.
It finds hda3, sees Reiser on it, and then displays the same three lines over and over very quickly:
hda: task_in_intr: status=0x59 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest Error }
hda: task_in_intr: error=0x10 { SectorIdNotFound}, LBAsect=80033968, sector=80033968
ide0: reset: success
then it finishes with
end_request: I/O error, dev hda, sector 80033968
UDF-fs: No partition found (1)
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on hda3
Yes, Reiserfs is compiled in. I tried with ext3 and I got a similar error (didn't write it down though) I am using gentoo-dev-sources. Again, this error happened on two identical machines. Additionally, when rebooting from the livecd, i have to manually power off - it hangs while or after disabling usb hotplugging.
Any help would be much appreciated. _________________ www.olin.edu |

Sounds like libata doesn't play nice with your disks. Try booting the kernel with the parameter, then tune the transfer mode manually with hdparm to see how high you can go. _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto
