I would like to start with User Mode Linux;
How do I get started? I have installed the latest gentoo-dev sources of the kernel (2.6.7) and want to use this kernel as UML kernel.
I already looked for documentation; but mostly is refers to the 2.4 kernel.
If I use the lastest kernel (2.6.7), from where do I get the UML patch; or do I need a patch at all? Is there an emerge that I can do?
What exactly do I have to do? How do I apply the UML patch?
Should I copy the kernel into a different directory, since I don't want to mess up my current kernel directory (I may want to compile my kernel again with new options...)
questions questions questions...

Is seems that uml isn't quite up to shape for 2.6 at the moment.

If you intend to build your own UML guest kernel, you might have to experiment to see which binutils lets you successfully link the kernel. I have tried both GCC 3.3.3 and 3.3.4 (with its associated binutils version) and it has not worked out for me. |
