Hello!
I have some userproblems with Gentoo here.
I have totally two problems:
1. I can't go into my ntfs-mounted directory with my user, only root can.
2. If I log in as root when Gentoo loads, and then change to my personal user, I can't startx with my user or root.
It would've been great if you could give me a step by step mini-mini-mini-guide how to fix both problems. Instructions on how to make user would've helped me too.
Just say if something of what I wrote is not understandable.
Thanks in Advance

If you search for vfat or ntfs and umask, you should turn up a couple of threads which may help:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=17396&highlight=vfat+umask
being one of them. I'm still mostly a newbie but this sounds like a user access rights thing, which for drives I believe is in /etc/fstab, the above thread should get you started.
As for creating a user, I find the adduser method somewhat difficult myself. I install kde and use kuser (under system I think) as root.
Hope that helps. |
