hey, I've recently been recompiling my kernel ( a multitude of times) to get certain things going ... ( iptables, nvidia) ...

and I've been using genkernel. When I used genkernel this most recent time, I noticed that it built a kernel similar to that of binary distrobutions (bloated), so I "make menuconfig" and check off everything I need and module everything I think I might need, only to find out.... I can't find /devfs

ANYWHERE in the options.... can someone point it out to me please?
.....
I did a search on this to no avail.

File Systems->Pseudo Filesystems->/dev file system support (OBSOLETE)

youll need to enable "Code maturity level options"->"Prompt for development and/or incomplete code/drivers" if you havent already, otherwise devfs (and quite a few other things) might not show up

thanks. :)

I didn't know about the "prompt for incomplete..." thing. I didn't think it was needed.

ok, got my kernel recompiled and everything....

But I'm still getting the "no devfs" error at boot....

I removed all my old bzimages from 2.6.7..... fixed my /etc/lilo.conf to point to my new kernel... and its still booting the old kernel (at least thats what it looks like) ... I'll try to recompile again with a make clean
