Hi,
I finished installing a stage 1 install of gentoo. but i think i installed grub in the wrong mbr......if i have the 1st hd with winxp on it and the second with gentoo.....i should still install grub in (hd0,0) right?
well i installed it in the second hd....so wen i rebooted is went straight to winxp without even giving me a grub screen to fix things...hah (i cant boot off the second hd from the bios....as its on an pci ide controller)
so how can i fix grub? all the config files are different (there as they are the ones from the cd....the originals) and typing the command 'grub' also yield command not found....
how can i fix this.....im so close yet so far _________________ "The universe is shaped exactly like the earth, if you go

You can boot up with the LiveCD, mount the partitions (as per the handbook), and then chroot into your gentoo installation. At this point you can set up grub again (the command should work since you're now chrooted). The other thing you could do is configure you system to boot off the second hard drive instead of the first, and then simply re-run grub to install on the mbr of the first drive. |
