LVM? or ReiserFS? or whatever causes this ...

Hi you out there

I got a problem here. A kinda weird and problematic one:

When I df on my system it shows that /usr is around 8GB in size with around 4GB being used. The problem is that every program trying to write data onto /usr aborts with an error like "disk full". I unmerged some old kernel sources which made my machine work again but the problem remains: whenever a partition under LVM control reaches "half used" something returns "disk full".

Anybody had the same problem? Any flag (like "automatic mirroring") I overlooked?
