Hehe, blaster999, I dident think of that. Yeah I should be able to get one working in WINE.. Its something that Linux needs though (if one doesent exist). _________________ I'm With Stupid |

anybody know if Encarta 98 works with wine or not? I am running a project and would like to see the computers use Linux that we donate. We have to make sure Encarta works on them first however. |

I've done some googling and found out:
- Encarta 2002 currently does not work with wine (but installs OK).
- Some people had problems with Encarta 99 setup (maybe this issue is fixed?)
- Nothing is told about the Encarta 98
- Encarta is availiable online at http://encarta.msn.com/
- Older versions of Brittanica Encyclopaedia aparently work, but the newest doesn't because it relies too much on IE and ActiveX (and that's not even stupid - it is moronic IMO).
As Encarta is developed by The Evil It$elf (TM), it probably uses some undocumented features and API calls, so wine compatibility is under question. _________________ 60s: sex, drugs, rock'n'roll
