Canon s520 printing whoas

I have installed a Canon s520 via CUPS (BJC-8200 gimp-print driver)

When I print a test page all is great, but when I go tho print any other image, it is horrible. Text is fine, but images are horrible.

Is there anything I can do about this?

well, here's my coming-out:
I use turboprint - yes its commercial software, ~25 €, www.turboprint.de - for my canon s500, wich works (for me) much better than the gimpprint drivers. Resolution is up to 2400 dpi. Works for most canon printers.
