ciao a tutti, sono alle prime con gentoo (e piu' o meno anche con linux), sto cercando di concludere la mia prima installazione ho dei problemi ad emergere nforce-audio e nforce-net.. mi sapete aiutare?

Come mai emergi nforce-audio nforce-net??? :?:

Se e' perche' hai la M/B con chipset nforce(2) ed audio/rete integrate c'e' la possibilita' di far funzionare tutto SENZA i driver nforce...

puoi postare il tuo output facendo

Non so troppo di nforce, ma "a occhio" sembra che i driver che stai cercando di emergere sono per i kernel 2.4 ma tu hai un 2.6... confermi?

Per la rete ti basta il modulo "forcedeth" che é presente nel kernel.

Per l'audio vanno bene i moduli di alsa, per sapere il modello fai come ti ha detto nick_spacca.

come detto da randomaze, il problema é il kernel: se hai il 2.6 quei moduli non servono a nulla, quindi puoi evitare benissimo di compilarli ;-)

wao, siete fantastici

sono riuscito a far funzionare l'altra scheda di rete per poter continuare l'installazione. se faccio lspci dal mio sistema mi dice -bash lspci: command not found .. invece dal live funziona e appena posso vi quoto l'output

i due pacchetti cnq ho provato ad emergerli sia dal kernel 2.4.x del live sia dal mio 2.6.7-r8 del mio sistema ma nulla

ora sto procedendo con l'installazione di xorg.. l'ho emero e ho emerso anche ati-drver, ho letto un paio di guide ma nn riesco a farlo partire, pur avendo settato con calma e bene xorgconfig e fglrxconfig

ehmm... dunque... se hai il kernel 2.6.x anche se riuscissi a scaricare e installare i due pacchetti, non ti servirebbero a nulla.
Se invece hai due kenrel, 2.6 e 2.4, allora devi cambiare il link simbolico /usr/src/linux in modo che punti a /usr/src/linux-2.4.x , altrimenti non si compileranno mai i pacchetti.

Per quando riguarda invece lspci, lo trovi nel pcchetto pciutils, quindi:

ci sono altri pacchetti molto utili\indispensabili per gestire bene il sistema come pciutils? (scusate la domanda da ignorantone)

la scheda di rete nforce cnq nn va ancora, l'audio non so, ancora problemi con x :roll:

si', era per dire che non sono troppo sicuro che dal livecd tu possa compilarli: quando vai ad emergerli sei già in chroot, il che significa che usi il tuo proprio kernel, anche se hai fatto il boot da livecd... é corretto, o sono io che non ho capito una mazza ? ;-)

questo mi fa sospettare che tu abbia una giga-byte, giusto ? Allora fai una cosa... prova a compilare il kernel con il modulo r8169.o vedrai che la rete improvvisamente partira' ;-)

beh, tutti i pacchettuzzi tipo nomefilesystem_fsprogs (xfsprogs reiserfsprogs etc..) cdrtools, debianutils, gentoolkit, genlop, tutti gli script della premiata fonderia digitale, da cui stiamo aspettando con ansia un macro-ebuild ;-) e sicuramente tanti altri...

Vai in drivers, scegli sound, advanced linux sound arch, attivi le cose in quel menu, poi in pci scegli via82xx
