I am in the process of installing gdesklets and notice that it requires a complete installation of gnome. I am just curious if it is absolutely necessary.
I also notice that gtk 1.2 is part of gnome 2 dependency. Again I wonder if gtk 1.2 is neccessary. |

Hi,
I've successfuly installed gDesklets on Gentoo. I think a lot of libraries and include files from Gnome and GTK are required. Gnome headers and GTK headers are required to compile gDesklets; and Gnome and GTK libraries are required to get gDesklets working fine.

Yup ! I got gDesklets working too, but i am just curious why the huge amount of dependency and gtk1 is included as part of it.
I recall installing gDesklets on freebsd requires less libs and headers / dependencies. |

Maybe the list of dependencies will be restricted with future release
I didn't really pay attention to the dependencies as I've got plenty of space on my hdd, but that should be checked...
