Does it contain mode-switch-in-fbcon_blank.patch? If so, I will need to reverse it as it messes with my radeon fb. |

I get a kernel crash upon bootup. I get a crash upon loading vesafb. I cannot find the cause as my resolution is so huge. I made sure to change my grub settings to the ones given. No matter what I put, vesafb crashes. Anyone else? |

no, it uses nick's VM patch which includes something equivalant in function to auto-swappiness. _________________ This post has been over explained for newb-informing purposes.

I had a similar problem, if you have an ATI card, remove the VESA support and add radeon in the kernel fb support. You may have to reverse the
mode-switch-in-fbcon_blank patch if you have video corruption upon exiting X. |

Here's an ebuild based on 2.6.7-love5.
Haven't tested the kernel yet, but I hope it solves those weird kernel panics that I experienced in love5. _________________ [size=9]We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars. |

compiled and working great here,
not sure of http issue, do you recommend any bandwidth test website to test connection like www.bandwidthtest.com?
Great - For the first time in ages I can now CTRL+ALT+F1 and see legible text, no more monitor switching off, or as in last love, Blocks all over the place on switching back to console. |

Anyone have the bootsplash initrd working? If so, could you post your config file or pm it to me? Thanks. |

Well as opposed to the previous -3 patch to love5, vesafb-tng works fine again for me in this kernel.
1600x1200-32@70 works perfectly regardless of whether I've started X or not. Thanks for the effort Mafteah! _________________ Sometimes the appropriate response to reality is to go insane.

Sorry to delay this so long, real life keeps getting in the way of coding time.
Mafteah: Bootsplash appears to be improperly adjusted to the mm sources in the patch you used. As a work around try http://ljones.com/bootsplash-3.1.4-2.6.7-love6-fix.patch on top of love6 to correct the placement of 2 hunks and let me know if that helps with your initrd problems.
vesafb-tng means you can dynamically change your fb resolution. Bootsplash as it currently exists is not designed with this posibility in mind. Do NOT attempt to change resolution to a size or color depth different from the bootsplash settings. I'm trying to work out a patch to make this safe but no luck so far with the mm frambuffer changes. |

nice one as well . Going to see how this works for me.
Since there is two patches for this kernel already, maybe we should see -update1 for this love... Mafteah? _________________ Sky is not the limit... |
