PSX controller + epsxe = messed up D-Pad

Ok, I got a PSX => USB adapter from Radioshack and emerged ePSXe from Portage. I then got the OmniJoy plug-in from a site online.

I configure all the buttons right, EXCEPT D-Pay...and if you watch when you configure the D-Pay (or use the joysticks):

*push for up direction* = Axis 1 in Negative Direction
*push for down direction* = Axis 1 in Positive Direction
*push for left* = Axis 0 in Negative Direction
*push for right* = Axis 0 in Negative Direction

That looks and sounds fine, but when I try a game (popped in my Driver 2 cd) all the buttons work fine except D-Pad! The car just goes in a donut and the guy just walks around backwards in a circle.

I searched the forum and someone said I needed to map the keys, how do I do that? Is there another way to fix this?
