k, i searched a little bit on the forums but still can't solve my problem
i have no /dev/cdroms
i have /dev/cdrom but it's symbolic link to /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 (dosent exist)
the output of: dmesg | grep -e hd
hdc: HL-DT-ST GCE-8520B, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
but there is no /dev/hdc.
i have devfs suppot in kernel, and support fo ATAPI cdrom.
what am i missing? |

Does /dev/hdc exist?
If it does, does it point to /dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0/cd (or something similar)?
If so then my /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 points to the same location, you could try creating that link. I'm sure there would be a better way to solve it though...

Oops, I must have not read have your post completly. Sorry!
I've no idea, if the kernel is detecting the device then devfs should create the device node for it! You've got a very strange problem...
