|
|
Hi,
I have an Adaptec 2410SA serial ATA RAID controller in a server, with four SATA drives in a RAID 5 config.
Now this all works fine, but I could really use a software method for detecting drive failures so I can get alerted and know to swap new hardware in.
I've googled around, searched all the places I can think of (linux kernel stuff, adaptec's site, etc), and can't find anything.
The only info I can find in /proc is acout the controller itself..
analysis scsi # pwd
/proc/scsi
analysis scsi # cat aacraid/0
Adaptec Raid Controller 1.1-3 Jun 7 2004 09:40:14, scsi hba number 0
kernel: 4.1-4[5934]
monitor: 4.1-4[5934]
bios: 4.1-0[5934]
serial: bba2fdfafaf001
analysis scsi # cat scsi
Attached devices:
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: ADAPTEC Model: primary Rev: V1.0
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
analysis scsi #
Anyone got any ideas? Any help/pointers greatly appreciated!
Cheers
Shane

I've got a similar issue with a small server that is located in a remote location. My needs are a bit simpler than yours, though.
I did some googling and found two SCSI monitoring tools that are listed as supported by Gentoo that might be useful for you. They are sg3_utils and smartmontools. Of the two, I think that smartmontools is probably closer to what you want, as it includes a daemon to do background monitoring. |
