Is qt4 going to be included in Portage ???
I haven't seen any submissions concerning it on bugs.gentoo.org and I was hoping to try it out (the portage way), otherwise I'll compile it from scratch.
Im not an ebuild-wizz but I was just wondering ... _________________ "I would say we have a 50% chance of survival, but I consider myself an optimist so I'll give us 50,5% ..."

WHY?
it would break everything, and it's just a technology preview, meaning pre alpha.. |

it shouldnt break anything. Its possible to have 2 versions of QT installed, and the new qt4 is providing a seprate library that will provide backwards compatibility with qt3. |

No, when it's finished, it should have excellent backwards compatability (Qt is a quite professional toolkit, in that regard), but the point is, that it's currently NOT finished, and thus, may break a lot of things. _________________ Emacs-optimized danish console keymap - My .emacs

I wouldn't bother with this just yet unless you want to start work on developing a QT4 app or porting a QT3 app to the new comat lib. There are probably zero usable QT4 apps out there as of now, so there is little point to this unless you want to start development with it. |
