Ok I have just installed Gentoo on me laptop and now I have ran into two seperate problems.
1. My wireless card is not reconized by the install. It is a Netgear MA401 802.11b card. It did work in Fedora Cre 2 so I know it works in Linux. Before compiling the kernel I enabled PCMCIA and PCMCIA networking. Is there anything esle I should have done? The card turns on (lights comeon) when inserted, but my thought is that the system just does not know what it is.
2. I have no sound at all. It is a sager notebook, sorry I do not have any of the info on the card. Is there anyway of using a command I can probe for it? I am realtivly new to gentoo so I am getting used to the commands. Thanks in advance for your help!

Which kernel are you using?

I have a Sager NP 4380 and I could only get the PCMCIA bus (ENE CB1410) working with 2.4.26-gentoo-r9.

well, for me (kernel 2.4) the pcmcia option wasn't there unless the chipset was enabled...

so in the "wireless lan" section, enable the hermes chipset, then check for the pcmcia setting.

if that doesn't work, then i have no idea.. sry

Run this to get info on your sound card.

Code:
# lspci -v | grep -i audio
