Text based Bandwith monitor?

I have a webserver running Gentoo and I'm looking for a way to keep track of how much bandwith a month it is using...basically how much traffic is going out over the network interface would be fine. It can't be graphical though, as ssh is the only contact I have with it. Any suggestions?

I read a little blurb in Linux Journal about vnStat. It's in portage, but it's masked for me. I've never used it, so I don't know how well it works, but it looks like just what you're looking for. Just "emerge -av vnstat" and you're set.
