I'm sorry, but I've left my apartment and won't be back in it until some time tomorrow and I can't reach my machine from the outside (damn university NAT). When I left it it was compiling with USE="firefox -mozilla". When I get back tomorrow I can try to re-do it with mozilla to replicate the error.

edit I think I have a fairly recent mozilla actually, I can't check now but it is somewhere in the 1.7.x series.

well, correct one is in /usr/lib/mozilla/libnss3.so
lets see what version of mozilla you got.

firefox 1.0.6 is rev. 1.7.10 so get mozilla-1.7.10 at least.

I have mozilla 1.7.8-r1 installed. However, the end result of compiling it with firefox (1.0.6-r6) instead of mozilla was almost the same:

Where does the checkdll reside? I tried manually entering the commands like you posted a couple of posts up, but it complains of not finding checkdll.

Nylle mozilla-firefox-1.0.6-r6 works for me
edit you may check the given -L/libpath/bla, make sure you got no second libnss3.{so,a} in these.
did you merge nspr and/or nss separately? then sure is a libnss3.so in /usr/lib which then causes this.

i should add these to block openoffice merge.

I'll look into it when I get home tomorrow, unfortunately work stopped me from getting home today. Are nspr and nss originally dependencies of mozilla? I'm just concerned what might break when i unmerge them.

That's a cute trick, I really need to brush up on portage commands.

However, removing nss and nspr doesn't seem like a long term solution. Using
Code:

find /usr/portage/ -iname '*.ebuild' | xargs grep 'dev-libs/nspr'
find /usr/portage/ -iname '*.ebuild' | xargs grep 'dev-libs/nss'

To find out which ebuilds in the current portage tree gives at least these programs
Code:

x11-plugins/gaim-encryption
mail-client/evolution
net-im/gaim
dev-java/jss
dev-libs/xmlsec
gnome-extra/evolution-data-server

Now, I don't use evolution, and I replaced gaim with kopete, but removing a shared library because mozilla has included it is not good solution.

Anyway, I'll try a new merge soon.

Because gaim depends on nss, however after looking through the ebuild it seems I can use gnutls instead.

So now it should be possible to merge with system nss? However, nss-3.9.3 doesn't seem to be in portage yet. Since I have to get to work, I'm mergning without system nss/nspr support to test if that really was the case.

Try the ebuilds from https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-370844-highlight-.html, not all of them are up-to date as I don't have the time to update them but the latest gaim should work fine with firefox-1.0.6-r6 ::)))

OK!!!...looks like that sometimes you only have to wait.... now it works...just downloading the source now...and then it will hopefully compile without errors...

I think I have to thank geki that he fixed the access to his sources....!!!!

Ahh, to come home to a freshly crashed build of OO.o, feels like home... ;)

However, this time I think I got really really far, it fails with:

Code:

Text relocations require a lot of extra work to be preformed by the
dynamic linker which will cause serious performance impact on IA-32
and might not function properly on other architectures hppa for example.
If you are a programmer please take a closer look at this package and
consider writing a patch which addresses this problem.

So, some sort of sandbox problem? The compile seems to have done ok, which is nice at least.

"doesn't work for me" wasn't an option? ;) Anyway, I (seem to have) solved it by using ebuild

Code:

ebuild /usr/local/portage/app-office/openoffice/openoffice-1.9.125.1.2.ebuild qmerge

And it seems to work, finally... :)

Code:
[ebuild   R   ] www-client/mozilla-firefox-1.0.6-r7  -debug -gnome +ipv6 +java -mozcalendar -mozdevelop -moznoxft -mozsvg +truetype -xinerama -xprint 0 kB

It seems that there isn't an ssl use-flag for the latest firefox ebuild, am I just stuck using the 1.0.6-r6 one, or is there some way around this. If I build it without ssl it complains about pkg11function or something along those lines.
