'diff', if of course you are comparing your burned cd or dvd to an image.

Not quite what i was looking for :(

I would want to se graphs over read speed from beginning to end since that is waht really matters when playing the DVD in a stand alone player.
All disks will differ from the image. There is almost always some difference.
But the real problem is when the media is bad and causes the disc to be hard to read and the player needs to re-read the affected part.

Dosn't look too good, guess I now have another reason to keep my windows disk in the computer...
Tryed to wine nero speed but it started complaining about the winaspi drivers.
I saw that there was a patch fore wine to implement these but since i install wine via portage its a bit to muuch work for me.
Easyer just to reboot when i update firmware or by a new media brand.

for CD's:
Code:

readcd -c2scan dev=X,Y,Z speed=xx

This shows you the uncorrectable errors after the second stage of error correction. For Audio CDs it means that the player starts interpolating (quality loss), Data-CD's have an additional error correction that can fix about 100 of these errors per block.
It works with most CD/DVD-Burners, and some CD/DVD-ROM drives.
(readcd is in the cdrtools package)

For DVD I don't know anything similar :(
