|
|
Hi
I'm going to reinstall my pc at work with a fresh copy of Gentoo. Right now, I'm using KDE as the wm, which I find to be very good. There are several useful applications which I use often, especially KOrganizer.
However, since KDE isn't one of the most lightweight window managers, I'm thinking of moving to Fluxbox (which I already used through a VNC on :1), and not emerging KDE (which would take a long time). I'm pretty sure I can find some alternatives of the other apps I use, but the main problem is KOrganizer...
Is there an alternative which has the same or similar functionality, usability, and especially the same compatibility with KOrganizer? I don't think one can install KOrganizer without installing KDE.
Suggestions are welcome. _________________ Registered linux user #341804

Nope. Evolution is an email client (with IMAP support). I'm already using Thunderbird for email, and moreover, I don't use IMAP, but vCalendar format.
I've found Gnome-Pim, but guess that will require the entire Gnome WM. _________________ Registered linux user #341804

Looks interesting. Does it have the ability to import mail from Mozilla Thunderbird? _________________ Registered linux user #341804

I'd say stick with KOrganizer. You should use whatever you like best, its silly to change software because your changing your windows manager. |

Yeah, although Evolution looks good, I think I'm simply gonna merge KDE. After all, I'm used to using it, and keep Fluxbox for VNC only (as it was now).
Thank you all for the advice. _________________ Registered linux user #341804
