Maybe I'm just not searching hard enough but does anyone know what ports and/or protocols emerge use. My firewall config drops input by default and in order to emerge anything I have to change the default to ACCEPT. I'd rather not do that... but until I find out what port is being used I guess I'll have to but I need/want a solution as soon as possible.
Any help would be great. |

Emerge (i.e. portage) as such doesn't use any ports. It uses rsync to sync the portage tree (rsync uses 873/tcp) and http and/or ftp to download (http is 80/tcp, and ftp is 20/tcp and 21/tcp). _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto
