It's taken me a little while, but it seems like I've gotten my CD/DVD burner to start attempting to burn CDs with SCSI emulation (I'm using gentoo-sources 2.4.26-r5). I got through the howto, and it seems to be working okay...

Both K3b and xcdroast will burn to the end of the CD, and complete it successfully. But when I try to mount the CD, bash says

Code:
fvr0r root # mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom0
mount: block device /dev/cdrom is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: No medium found

It seems odd to me, because it's not a UDF disc, and no odd options were added.

As I said, the entire write seems to be working fine (there's even data on the disc, looking at the underside), does anyone have any ideas? They would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just emerged 2.01_alpha28-r1 earlier, since I read alpha27 had problems with the added DVD capabilities.

Aha! I just figured something out that seems a little odd to me. Since setting up SCSI emulation and rebooting, my CD drives have switched numbers. i.e. /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 is now /dev/cdroms/cdrom1 and vice versa.

Does this seem odd to anyone else?

Thanks for the help, by the way.

EDIT: Okay, I think my problem was compiling the IDE CDROM support into the kernel instead of leaving it as a module. I left it as a module, followed the scsi emulation directions, and everything seems to be working rather well.
