|

Hello,
since some weeks opera takes around 30 seconds to start.
The problem occurs only with my default user (other users start opera in a few seconds) there must be some garbage, that slow down everything.
I reduced the file-cache to 5 MB, but it didn't help,
Any suggestions? |

I find document history increases startup time tremendously, of course that only comes into effect if you use saved sessions or the "continue from last time" option.
If you are using those then get into the habit of pressing back so many times you can't go any further and then refreshing, that keeps the histories in each tab down. Or you could use "delete private data" but bear in mind that that will close all tabs. |

You could try w/ the "-static" flag, that seems to make it faster. Also, prelinking should help. However you "shouldnt" have to do that to get a useable startup speed out of opera.
If you've updated recently try letting opera use its default configs. (Ie. move "~/.opera/" to ~/.opera.bak/" or similar) Perhaps its not liking some old settings. |

Infinty's tip helped me.
Thanks.
What are you meaning with the static-flag? |

I mean the "static" USE flag. It just compiles qt in staticaly. (Is opposed to dynamicaly). |
