i was told mm7 had alsa fixes to allow xine to work with nvidia's 6106 kernel modules. xine normally opens for 5 seconds then segfaults.
so i made the switch to a mm7 based kernel for the fix as per another thread about xmms and xine segfaulting.
xmms might segfault, alsa won't detect my soundcard anymore so i haven't used xmms.
by the way, i'm sick of alsa's implementation changing with every kernel -- in 2.6.5 i HAD to compile it as a module or it wouldn't work. in 2.6.7 it doesn't work as a module...
in anycase what other fixes are there? |

dunno, i have the same problem here and it begins to bore me. USE="-opengl" emerge xmms worked for me, however i have no solution for xine. |

thanks!, that was the solution.
xine segfaults with nvidia 6106 kernel modules the solution is to do:
cp /usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/lib/libnvidia-tls.so.1 /root
rm -f /usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/lib/libnvidia-tls.so.1
this backs up the old file before removing it. now xine works. i aslo did:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge xine-lib
sound, video, and mouse all working at the same time... if only i could fix my NIC... but no, the universe would end... last time i tried to fix the problem i ended up not able to boot... the old netmount problem, there are many threads with solutions that didn't work. i've found a workaround in doing dhcpcd then killing it then running it again. i just need a script to do this for me, but it didn't work in net.eth0. |
