|
|
Is there a quick and dirty way of writing a DiVX movie to DVD for playing in a 'regular' DVD player? A friend of mine asked me to do this for him, and I'm at a loss. I've tried transcode and other apps but cannot seem to get the settings right. |

DVD video is in MPEG2 format. DivX is an MPEG4 format. So what you'd need to do is re-encode the DivX video into standard DVD-style MPEG2, and burn it with a program like K3B with the proper settings.
DivX will not work on a DVD player. MPEG2 is no where near the same as MPEG4. _________________ I was a Gangster for Capitalism, by Major General Smedley Butler.

I fully understand the format differences (hence the reference to 'transcode'), however I have been unable to find the right combination of switches to create DVD-compliant MPEG-2 file. Any ideas?
I have successfully mastered DVDs under Linux before, but that was with an DVD-compliant MPEG-2 file. |

Did I ask something incorrectly?
Where can I get a HOWTO on using transcode to create a DVD-compliant MPEG-2 file from a DiVX file?
Thanks. |
