I have a weird problem: The volume refuses to change... When I try to cange it, if it is inn XMMS or someting else it still remains constant. I even have muted bouth PCM and master in amixer, but still the sound keeps coming out.
I use kernel 2.6.5-gentoo-r1 with the included alsadrivers, but have had this problem since I reinstalled Gentoo sevral months (and kernels) ago.
Thanks!

Can you change the volumes / mute the channels using the alsamixer program? _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto

i got the same problem, by using kde 3.2.2 on a gentoo-2.6-r7 kernel.
the arts- server automatically starts the arts-deamon, which occupies the sound device. it will not go to suspend-mode by itself, like i set it
so i kill the arts-deamon by hand to be able to start proxx like xmms or mplayer, etc.
and then i need to start a mixer, like kmix, to controll the volume... |

Works for me too. Only that what I needed to do was to disable software volum controll. Finaly volum normaliser works again. Thanks |
