Probably haven't defined your hostname in /etc/hosts

Yes, you should add a line that looks something like:

Code:
<your ip address>       <your computer name>

For more information, search google or do:

Code:
man hosts

Pshaw...that's nothing. You try doing a web search using telnet. You young whippersnappers and your fancy-schmancy interfaces. ;)

Well, if you haven't found out already because it's too late, if you don't set the host name within 45 minutes of the initial install, Gentoo will wipe your hard drive, shut down your computer, cancel your cable account and put bleach in your load of colored laundry.

(yes, it's fine to leave it blank for now, though you should eventually set it.)

If you don't wanna help that's just file but think about this so:
In the second side , the guy that write here a message not exactly are an EXPERT like you, otherwise this forum was not exists so open your mind.

Were you wanna me go to ask these stupid questions?
The only way to learn and succeded is to ask and share and RIGHT, i'm not a super user of TELNET or LYNX and even don't want to be.
That's all my man

Dude -- it was a joke. That's what the winking smiley (;)) is supposed to represent. It wasn't meant as a personal attack on you, so don't take it as one. Take a deep breath and relax.

Has anyone seen pacman's sense of humor? He seems to have misplaced it... (that's another joke, BTW)

Sorry for attack, maybe i wasn't understand you well, I'm calm ;-)
Please, I'm so sick of this,my computer is on wait status already 3 hours and only 15 min. ago i saw that red (none) and even the "wget" don't wanna get the files.
The best way is to reboot and start all from start?

Your original post just asked about the red (none) -- I'm not sure what the other problems you're having are. "wait status"? Meaning its sitting around compiling stuff or just sitting there doing nothing. Short of compiling XFree86 or some other large app, nothing should take 3+ hours.

If it's sitting around doing nothing and has been that way for 3 hours, then something is wrong. You can either restart the install process (easiest, but maybe most time-intensive) or you can post more details about exactly what is wrong. Probably want to start a new thread though, since this one is about a different topic. (unless you've started one already)

Ok my man,
Because I'm "walking" on the docs. that I've printed from gentoo.org I'm at point 20 ( command: scripts/bootstrap.sh )
1) I made the ENVIRONMENT VARS:
export ftp_proxy="ftp://myproxy:port/"
export http://myproxy:port/"
2) Runned the command: scripts/bootstrap.sh

During the process I get a error message for the same package:
HTTP/1.1 NOT FOUND
( the package is textinfo-4.0.tar.gz )
Then i was addedd more mirrors to "make.conf" but the same.
Even i was runned the command:
wget .........url_to_textinfo-4.0.tar.gz

I realy don't know why is happening.
This is the second time that i try to install :-(
Thanks
