in case anyone is wondering, this is a different system than the other one i am having trouble with.
I went through a stage one install but when I got to the end, i came across some problems. First, i couldn't emerge grub, it told me that rclocal command could not be found. Then, when I tried to emerge vixie-cron, i got an error that openSSL could not be installed. I then tried emerge sync and then emerge system, but I got the same errors.
I then proceeded to try setting up my passwords only to find out that the passwd command doesn't exist .
Then I just configured my existing grub(on red hat) for the gentoo install and it booted, but it then told me that the mound command wasn't found.
Not really sure where to go from here, I'm pretty sure I followed all the steps |

The commands you are missing should have been compiled / installed when you did the "emerge system" step. If you are unable to "emerge system", then maybe bootstrap was not successful.
Each installation step builds on the previous one, so you can't really skip any. |
