Well my question is simple, what can Samba + LDAP do more or better than running Samba alone? Could anyone explain to me the use of LDAP together with samba(running as a PDC)?

You could replicate the accounts on a slave server, you could use ldap to authenticate both the samba and linux user. ![Smile :)](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Apparently using both allows you to set up a domain controller for your Windows network as well as your linux network. That way you can have one login account for the entire network. At least that's the way I understand it. I'm currently in the process of setting this up myself, so we'll see how well it works. _________________ Michael Reeves |

So samba alone can't authenticate users in linux? _________________ There is, a not-born, a not-become, a not-made, a not-compounded.
