|
|
I just finished a install using reiserfs for my root partition and the ck-sources kernel. On reboot while its loading I get the following...
Code: | *Mounting proc at /proc... [OK]
*Mounting sysfs at sys...
can't create lock file /etc/mtab~208: Read-only file system (use -n flag to overide) [!!!]
...blah blah...
Faild to open the device '/dev/ROOT/': No such file or directory
Warining...fsck.reiserfs for device /dev/ROOT exited with signal 6.
* Filesystem couldn't be fixed :( [!!!]
ctrl-d thing
|
I then can enter the root password to get a bash prompt or if I press ctrl-d it unmounts everthing and reboots. I'm assuming the second error is caused from the first. Why would it be read only? and where would I put this -n flag thing? |

Have you actually modified your /etc/fstab? It should have device names instead of /dev/BOOT etc... those are just there as placeholders... _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |

LOL! Don't feel bad, made the same mistake getting me SATA drives to work. Changed the letters, but not the numbers. Sigh...
Hang in there.

I did the same thing, is there a way to make the filesystem writable in diagnostic mode so I can update fstab? |

Just mount it as you normally would.... boot to the liveCD and use mount.

Thanks, I was able to issue the mount remount command from diagnostics mode. |
