i emerged sync today and noticed that there was a new gentoo-dev-sources kernel, i went to emerge it and emerge cant seem to find the file genpatches-2.6-7.43-extras.tar.bz2, i tried browsing to the file in some of the distfile mirrors but coudlnt find it anywhere, is this a problem with portage or perhaps is the file just not synced on all the mirrors yet?

usually the file just hasn't propogated throughout the mirrors yet, if its a fresh ebuild.... you could always try googling for the filename and putting it in /usr/portage/distfiles/ and re-emerging, which sometimes works. if you do that and it gives a bad md5sum error, delete it from distfiles and wait :)

i tried googling and i couldnt find the file anywhere, tried it a few different ways, usually the kernel updates (since they seem to happen so often lately :D ) propogate at the same time, so i wasnt sure if it was a problem or not

Just take some time and wait till Gentoo mirrors are all synchronized. They do it basically, all at a time. Am I wrong? Fine, pack-wise, sounds better :).

Here the mirror list: http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors.xml

If you're a freak, you can write a simple BASH script rolling through those mirrors, however, traffic... :)
