Barring the configuration of the router which I'm not going ot get into because it's not something I feel like doing ( :D ), minicom should be your best bet.
net-dialup/minicom is the package name.. as long as the router is configured to speak on the serial port (you've already done the aux/console config and made it addressable through the serial) then all you have to do is configure minicom to use 8-N-1 (8-bit, no parity, 1 stopbit I think thats what it stands for, been a while) and set the baud rate to 9600, and of course set the serial device to the proper one your setting the router up on. Then, turn the router on and you should see the output on the screen. (well, depends.. I usually use aux myself to the serial, and I can see the cisco router output coming up on the screen when it boots through minicom)
I have a Cisco 2502 here that I configured through minicom, so I know it can be done.

EDIT: the device will be /dev/ttyS?

Where are the config files for that? (I mean to use minicom to speak to the router through /dev/ttyS0)

Hi,
for me i take 'cu /dev/tts/0' for the first serial line.
cu belongs to 'net-misc/taylor-uucp'
for exit from cu type '~.' (the ~-sign followd by a dot and return;-)
