|

What I want to do is to secure all connection between hosts and my gentoo server. The hosts and the server are on the same network. Hosts clients are on Windows XP.
I have checked for ipsec but I don't have find doc for exactly what I want to do.
I want something that's not require third party programs on the hosts side if it's possible.
Does someone have an idea on how I could do that? |

What sort of connection ?
A specific protocol or the complete TCP/IP session ?
There are parts that simply can not be encrypted or secured, such as anything below the TCP/IP session layer.
There must be gazillions of hwoto's about IPsec and Windows clients - wait I'll Google:
http://www.google.com/search?q=linux+ipsec+windows+xp+client
The first link is bingo - so much for "Oooh I've searched and searched to nooo avail..."

I don't think there is a way to secure an entire connection between windows and linux without using third-party software. The easiest way is to use ssh. Install open-ssh on the gentoo box and use Putty on the Windows computers. Any traffic you want to use the encrypted tunnel you can forward the ports for using Putty. Google for ssh and port forwarding, it's really a vast topic. _________________ No guilt in life, no fear in death
