Hi all,
I have some trouble to finish my Gentoo install.
I use 2004.1 with gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.7-r11. I have an IC7-MAX3 motherboard with my Gentoo hard disk drive plugged on the second SATA connector of the ICH5-R controller (it is IDE4-Master on the BIOS). LILO is my bootloader.
At boot time, I have a kernel panic when the kernel tries to mount the root drive passed on command line (root=xxx). I set root=/dev/sdb3 (it was working on my previous install), but it seems that 2.6.7 doesn't create the same link than previous kernels.
So, my question is : What name does 2.6.7 give to the 2nd SATA drive on a Intel ICH5 controller ? It is sdb ? sdd ? hdb ? hdf ? xyz ? anything else ?
Thanks. _________________ Please forgive my poor english level, I'm a frenchie ! |

For me it is /dev/hdg (hda-d is IDE1/2 P/S, hde/f is SATA 1 primary/secondary, hdg/h+ is SATA 2 p/s). The change would probably be from not using ide-scsi in your kernel config. |
