... I just finished compiling Stage 1, KDE, & Mozilla 1.6.
I want to learn some very basic things... like how do I, from a command line find out how much space all my files have taken up and how much space iis left in the partition? Is there a switch for ls or is there something else? How do I check my reiserfs, and is there a boot log to see what is passing on my screen at light speed at boot time? I saw something that said my reiserfs is in slow mode or something to that effect but it goes by so fast I cannot be sure. _________________ migrax |

Try df and dmesg
dmesg | less may be useful too.
Now try man df man dmesg and man less _________________ Regards,

du is also good. keep in mind du and df can take a -h option, which can be easier to read at times.
ls -l (-a and -h and -R are also useful).
for reiser problems try "dmesg | grep -i reiser" and maybe "dmesg | grep -i reiser -A 3 -B 3" if you feel you might be missing something. _________________ Unregistered Linux User #17598363 |
