I have a friend who is on Windows, but is considering installing Gentoo, and wanted to know if his ADSL modem is supported. It is PPPoA.
I said he should be able to just do #adsl-setup, and then #adsl-start - Is this right? _________________ Thanks,

Verted,
How does your friend connect the modem to the PC?
If its ethernet, its just networking, USB makes it more difficult, that will require kernel support for the modem.
If its an internal PCI device I'm not so sure. Get your pal to boot the liveCD and tell us what lspci says about the modem. _________________ Regards,

If it's a USB modem - check out the globespan-adsl ebuild which caters for lots of ECI-based modems. Their home page is:
http://eciadsl.flashtux.org/index.php?lang=en
It works flawlessly for me withan FDX310 modem. _________________ Docs, Tips & Tricks at the Gentoo Wiki page. |
