Hi,

I got a copy of gentoo on CD today and I am following the installation handbook. I am running "tar -xvjpk /mnt/cdrom/stages/stage3-athlon-xp-2004.1.tar.bz2" on my desktop for the last 8 hours.

Could anyone tell me how long it normally takes to complete the extraction above?

Hi,

8 hours!!!!! Something is wrong. Normally takes about a minute.

Somebody correct me if i'm wrong but isn't it tar -xvjpf not -xvjpk.
