|
|
My system seems to always report times in UTC; I would prefer local times. I have no idea where to adjust this.
Help a n00b?
As a possibly separate issue, how do I tell if the system
clock is holding UTC or local time, and how do I change
that?
These matters were probably clear to me for a minute or
so in the midst of the initial install, but I've forgotten
everything since.

Section 7a of the install guide....
Code: |
# ls /usr/share/zoneinfo
(Suppose you want to use GMT)
# ln -sf /usr/share/zoneinfo/GMT /etc/localtime

My system clock holds the local time, not UTC. How can I get Gentoo to realize that it is local and not UTC? Right now I have to set my time zone as GMT to get the right time to display. |

Have a look at the /etc/rc.conf file:
Quote: | # Set CLOCK to "UTC" if your system clock is set to UTC (also known as
# Greenwich Mean Time). If your clock is set to the local time, then set CLOCK
# to "local". This setting is used by the /etc/init.d/clock script.
CLOCK="UTC" |
