The desktop config handbook only tells you how setup kde and gnome. How do I use enlightenment instead? |

in the config file ~/.xinitrc add exec enlightenment as the last line. Put any start up apps above that line with a "&" symbol after them. Then enter "startx" from the command line.
here is an example file that starts a clock and puts in the upper left corner, starts an xterm and then starts
Code: | xclock -geometry -0+0 &
xterm &
exec enlightenment |
then start x from the command line.
if you are using gdm or kdm put a an enlightenment session file in /etc/X11/Sessions/
here is an example of that:
Code: | #!/bin/sh
xclock -geometry -0+0 &
xterm &
/usr/bin/enlightenment |
select which display manager is used in /etc/rc.conf
You can also use the enlightenment display manager "entrance" but it is still a little buggy. _________________ Gentoo: it's like wiping your ass with silk. |

it is a blank file until you create it. Look at the example file above. Paste that into the new file. _________________ Gentoo: it's like wiping your ass with silk. |

No problem! Welcome to enlightenmet! It's a great Window Manager, I think you'll like it.

You may wish to try out the "Winter Theme" which has been introduced to E in one of the last releases. It looks really nice and clean.

Wow, I hadn't looked at the new themes (I thought the base themes would have stayed the same), but "winter" looks great. Thanks for the tip! _________________ ICQ #81510866 - http://the-gay-bar.com - MSN tante@emptiness.de

I've really enjoyed working with enlightenment but most of the pages referenced above assume you are very familiar with enlightenment already. Can anyone point me to some forums or tell me what an epplet is?
Also I downloaded eplus-dr10 from http://cmdrtaco.net/linux/e.shtml What exactly is this and which folder am I supposed to put this in?
BTW it's really refreshing to work with a desktop evironment that is bare and allows me to add icons and functionality. Using KDE and Gnome made feel trapped in a Windows like space. |
