Hi, I've been using Linux a couple of years starting with Mandrake, currently using SuSE 9.1. Time to upgrade. I have 2004.1 LiveCD & when I attepmt to install I get the splashscreen & I can choose kernel then I get to the the command line that's when my system just shuts down about 30 seconds later.
I've tried using Knoppix for boot puposes but no go that way either. Any suggestions?
System specs
HP Brio
947Mhz P3
384 MB ram
Dual booot with Windows Xp (my wife uses it & I use for games, only) |

when the cd first boots you will be given a boot prompt
if you press F2 you will get a list of boot options. Try booting with each of these one at a time until you get one that works:
Code: | gentoo=noapm
acpi=on
gentoo=noapic
|
one of those is usually the culprit. check out all the boot options to though. If one of the ones above don't work. _________________ Gentoo: it's like wiping your ass with silk. |

Sorry, answered my own question. I'll have to try this tomorrow, it's late here. Have to work. |
