Alright I am having a lot of issues with this new 2004.1 stage 1 stuff. I went and tried to use the new Live CD but that wouldn't find my network card so I went back and used the older 2004.0 live cd. I went downloaed the stage 1 tar extracted it everythign was cool witht he md5sum etc. Next I went to create my make.conf file and there is nothign there. There is no /mnt/gentoo/etc folder at all. So great now I can't do that nor can I do the recolv.conf thing. So then I say ok I will skip that for now. So then I got to do the chroot thing and it can;t find /bin/bash so now I can chroot to where I need to go I can't continue the install and its really kickda ticking me off any suggestions?

I am using the following stage file: stage1-x86-2004.1.tar.bz2 and I downlaoded it from 2 different sources.

Are you sure you extracted it to the right place? Is everything else that you might expect there?

Yup, when you extract it you have to be in the /mnt/gentoo directory.
