If you use (or have used) Gkrellm you know what I'm talking about.
I'm looking for a non-gui application that will do the same function that gkrellms network monitor function does. Something that shows your current use, how much you used so far in that day,month, and maybe year. Does anyone know anything that is this good or better? it would be really nice to have. thanks in advance

Nothing is as good as gkrellm.
But you might check out iptraf, it's simple and pretty good.
