It looks like the tag for KDE 3.3.0 Beta 2 is already in KDE CVS: KDE_3_3_0_BETA_2

Can't wait. Currently runing beta 1 on AMD64 and it is working very well. Makes translating quite a bit easier :)

Well it is easier to translate and check the translation if the application you are translating works as stable and possible sou you can check all the different parts of it.

No, you dont have to remove kde 3.2 first.

kde 3.2 is in /usr/kde/3.2
kde 3.3 is in /usr/kde/3.3

and the config files is in:

~/.kde3.2
~/.kde3.3

So I guess caleb is working on and testing ebuilds before uploading them (which is wonderful) and we'll have happy happy beta2 ebuilds. And maybe they solved all those irriatating crashes I didn't report as I couldn't get usefull debugging info without recompiling.

So what exactly is new in 3.3? Except that it's out there, is anything actually worth it?

Changed the names of the latest beta1 builds in the portage tree, put them in my overlay, ebuild foo'd them all (this needs an easier way), edited the kdelibs and arts ebuilds to change the references to *2.91 to *2.92, commented out the epatch lines in kdebase, and renamed some kdebase files/directories, edited /usr/local/portage/eclass/kde-dist.eclass to add the beta2/*.92 lines, and all is emerging fine so far.

If the link works, that's a post about what to add to ebuilds to make sure that you get good backtraces. If it doesn't, lemme know and I'll duplicate the info for here.

Use at your own risk, kdegames and some others might not have digests but you'll get the ebuild foo warning about it.

do u need another mirror for this? lol

Yes, 3.2.92 is 3.3beta2 and should be installed in /usr/kde/3.3.
