Why does the latest media-libs/flac-1.1.0-r2 require XMMS?
Versions prior did not require it, and XMMS requires gtk and xfree which I do NOT want on my machine.
edit: Just tried a use flag of -xmms and that fixes it. Why all the sudden did that change? |

Obviously the new version of flac has some portion of code that concerns xmms.
If you have xmms in your use variable, you shouldn't be surprised if portage wants to merge xmms in order to enable flac's xmms functionality. |

That is the thing I do NOT have xmms in my USE string, I guess it is in the default. Which is another complaint I have why does the default have soo many USE varaibles. Seems to me it should be empty. |

If you'd like to start with an empty USE variable, prepend -* to your list in make.conf.
Code: | USE="-* flac kde xmms" |
Otherwise, append -xmms to your list. |
