|
|
I just finished a base install of Gentoo and instead of emerging xfree like usual, I wanted to install xorg. When I emerge I'm getting:
Code: | root@asgard riyak # emerge xorg-x11
Calculating dependencies ...done!
!!! Error: the virtual/x11 package conflicts with another package.
!!! both can't be installed on the same system together.
!!! Please use 'emerge --pretend' to determine blockers.

When I use --pretend I get:
Code: | root@asgard riyak # emerge -p xorg-x11
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

[blocks B ] x11-base/xfree (from pkg x11-base/xorg-x11-6.7.0-r1)
[blocks B ] x11-base/xfree ("virtual/xft" from pkg x11-base/xorg-x11-6.7.0-r1)

[ebuild N ] sys-apps/utempter-0.5.5.5

What do I need to change to unblock xorg? |

This will uninstall XFree, then you should be able to emerge xorg-x11. |

That worked but I find that strange. I didn't emerge xfree at all. I guess it was a dependancy to something then. Thanks for your help. |
