Hey, sorry guys, but my polish writing/reading skills suck so I'm writing in english.

I want to setup on my Gentoo desktop for my dad. His english isn't as good, so I thought it be cool if I could setup up the desktop where most of it was in Polish wherever possible (eg. menus).

So do you guys have any experience/advice how to do this? By the way I'm using kde.

Set LINGUAS in /etc/make.conf :

Code:
LINGUAS="pl"

And then emerge kde-i18n, and your Dad has got KDE in polish ;)

it will be better to set LINGUAS="en pl", as you are probably going to use English version of linux :wink:

Thanks guys :) . I've also found some other things I have a questions about.

I put the following in his home .bashrc file
Code:
export LANG="pl"

For openoffice, I guess I can't use the binary version to get Polish support. So I'll need to emerge openoffice with
Code:
LANGUAGE="48"
But how do I do it so I have both english and polish support?

For firefox and gdm, is it possible for them to use Polish?

Short: as a user who need to have polish firefox, click here to download and install polish language pack for firefox 0.9.1. Then you have to open Tools-->Extension and switch to polish
