When I run /sbin/lilo I get this message:
'/proc/partitions' does not match '/dev' directory structure.
Name change: '/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc' --> '/dev/sda'
The kernel was compiled with DEVFS_FS, but 'devfs=mount' was omitted as a kernel command-line boot parameter; hence, the '/dev' directory structure does not reflect DEVFS_FS device names.
What does this mean? And how can I fix it?
Thanks.

Are you wanting to use devfs? and can you post your lilo.conf file? _________________ www.bearscanfly.org - Because hiking is cool |

Are you running lilo from the livecd? Lilo generates this message because the devfs isn't bound to the /dev directory inside your chroot environment (the handbook tells you to mount your drive at /mnt/gentoo and then chroot into it).
As long as you've build devfs into your kernel, you should be okay. You can always double-check by building your kernel, booting it, and then running lilo again (this time, the devfs will be mounted). |
