Hello,

I have found that the Sun jdk is masked on the ppc architecture.
Hence, I installed the blackdown package but the current version is 1.3.

Is there a way to get java 1.4 support for ppc ?

Regards,

Xavier

There is the IBM JDK. I am using currently dev-java/ibm-jdk-bin-1.4.1-r2 and works well for the (few) Java programs I use.

There is no mozilla plugin in the IBM JDK though, what I have is dev-java/blackdown-jre-1.3.1-r9 in parallel with IBM Java, and that is precisely because of the mozilla plugin. Aggain, the combination works well for me, just do not forget to emerge java-config and use it to set the default system Java package to IBM's.

Thank you for your help.

I had just figured the existence of jre by myself but did not think about java-config.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Xavier
