Hi there ...

Everything seems to work properly.

But the burned CD isn't usable. The CD-Read/Writer (Plextor) does not even recognize the CD. In consequence, the mount of the burned CD fails with "no meida found". The same error happens in Win-2000 so i believe thats a problem with the drive itself.

Has anyone an idea what could be wrong and what can be done?

Regards
Sulu

Try another program like k3b, this program burns great and it has plextor cd-r device support too.
No media found usally means something went wrong with the burning(i got 20 misburned cd's to proof it ;) ).

Hi RickDB

Thanks for your tip.

But! I have the same problem on Win-2k. Thus suggests a hardware-related issue.
Within gentoo i did the burn with a plain cdrecord-call. IIRC crecord is used by most of the CD-Burning-Frontends.

But anyway, as k3b seems to have plextor-support i'll give it a try.

specific hardware support is not a feature of ANY cdrecording software under linux. they all use either cdrecord or cdrdao both of which handle the support for specific burners.

I thought so myself. There is no hardware specific configuration anywhere.

But anyway, i checked to cd-rom optically. The correct amout of data seems to get burned on the cd but the cd is not usable. Could it be some dirt on the lenses or something similar?
